Winelingo
These terms govern your use of the Winelingo app, provided by Jonas Egeskov (“we”, “us”). By using the app you agree to them.
1. The service
Winelingo helps you identify wines, learn about them, and build a personal taste profile. Wine information, tasting notes and recommendations are educational and for general guidance only — they are not professional, dietary or medical advice. Please drink responsibly and in accordance with the law where you live.
2. Eligibility
You must be of legal drinking age in your country of residence to use Winelingo.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account.
4. Subscriptions (auto-renewable)
Winelingo is free to download and learn with. An optional paid subscription, Winelingo Premium, unlocks unlimited label scans, wine-list scans and personalisation features. The free tier includes a monthly allowance of label scans, one wine-list scan in your first month, and all learning content. The following terms apply to the subscription.
- Winelingo Premium is offered as an auto-renewable subscription (monthly or annual). The price and any introductory free trial are shown in the app before you purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renew, in your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase.
- If you are offered a free trial, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
4a. Buying on our website
You can also take the Winelingo course in your browser at winelingo.app/course, with the same account. The first two units of the course are free there; the rest of the course needs one of these:
- Winelingo Premium, monthly: an auto-renewable subscription with the same features as Premium in the app, including unlimited label scans in the iPhone app. The price and any introductory free trial are shown before you pay. It renews every month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time with the link in your receipt email, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- The course, for life: a one-time payment that unlocks every lesson of the course and unlimited hearts, on the web and in the app, for as long as Winelingo offers the course. It does not include other Premium features, such as unlimited label scans.
- The course as a gift: the same course for life, bought for someone else. You get a single-use gift code, shown after the payment and kept under "Give the course as a gift" in your account. Whoever redeems the code on their own Winelingo account gets the course for life, as described above. The code does not expire. Keep it safe: anyone who has the code can redeem it. A gift can be refunded within 14 days as long as the code has not been redeemed; a refunded code stops working.
- Purchases on our website are sold by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for these orders and handles payment, VAT, receipts and refund requests. Paddle’s buyer terms apply to the purchase, including your statutory rights as a consumer, such as any right of withdrawal.
- Refunds: ask within 14 days of a purchase on our website and you get your money back in full, by writing to us or through Paddle at paddle.net. A refund ends the access the purchase gave. Prices and plans are listed on our pricing page.
- What you buy is tied to your Winelingo account, so it works wherever you sign in. A subscription bought in the app is managed in your Apple ID settings; one bought on our website is managed through Paddle.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t misuse the app: no reverse-engineering, no automated scraping of our content, no attempts to bypass the subscription, and no uploading of unlawful or infringing images. We may suspend accounts that do.
Friends and shared content
Winelingo lets you add friends and share tastings, comments, cheers, your profile name and photos with them. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not post content that is hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, violent, discriminatory, unlawful or that infringes someone else’s rights, and you must not use the app to bully, impersonate or spam anyone.
- Names, usernames and comments are filtered automatically for offensive words.
- You can report any tasting, comment or person from inside the app, and block anyone so you no longer see each other.
- We review every report within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks these terms and ban the users who posted it.
Only friends you accept can see what you share, and you can keep any tasting private.
6. Content & intellectual property
The app and its educational content are owned by us or our licensors. Your own tastings and notes remain yours; you grant us the limited permission needed to store and process them to provide the service.
7. Disclaimers & liability
The app is provided “as is”. Wine identifications and recommendations are AI-assisted and may be inaccurate. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
