Why Winelingo exists
Most of us meet wine at a shop shelf or a restaurant table, staring at a label we can’t quite read, hoping we pick something good. Winelingo turns that moment into a small, friendly lesson. Scan the bottle and you get a plain-language taste profile, the story of why it tastes the way it does, an honest note on the winery, and a short “story for serving” so you can pour with a little confidence.
It’s built around one idea from the best language apps: you learn a little every day, building on what you tried last night. Rate the wines you drink and Winelingo quietly maps your palate, so its suggestions get smarter with every glass.
Who makes it
Winelingo is an independent app made by Jonas Egeskov in Denmark — not a corporation, just someone who loves wine and thinks learning it should feel warm and human. That independence shapes the product: no ads, no selling your data, and a launch that’s completely free.
What we believe
- No wrong answers. Your palate is yours. Winelingo is a knowledgeable friend, never a gatekeeper.
- Plain language over jargon. If a wine word needs explaining, we explain it.
- Enjoy responsibly. Winelingo is for adults of legal drinking age (17+), and it’s about drinking better, not more.
